About The Wine:
The 2017 Vintage of Lot 83 is the latest vintage of this popular Sangiovese blend. It is 100% from the Texas Hill Country. The Sangiovese is sourced from Bella Vista Vineyard in Wimberley, Texas. The Malbec and Merlot are from Westcave Cellars Vineyards off of Hamilton Pool Rd, just outside of Austin. Lot 83 is house style that's intended to be a great everyday wine, that complements a wine array of foods and something that can be enjoyed in the summer and fall due to it's lower alcohol content, soft tannin structure and youthful brightness due to its refreshing acidity.
Tasting Note: A savory blend that produces a rustic, Tuscan inspired wine. The wine showcases classic Sangiovese fruit character with light nuances of oak, that makes the wine more fruity and light, without packing on too much tannin. The result is an “old-world’ styled wine that’s incredibly versatile as a pairing wine.
About The Winemaker:
In 1999, Allan Fetty and his wife Margaret Fetty planted their first 3 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Texas Hill Country, just a stone’s throw from Westcave Preserve and Hamilton Pool Preserve. After supplying local wine makers with grapes for a few years, Margaret and Allan began crafting their own unique wine, made in the old-world style and strongly influenced by the French traditions. The vineyard has expanded to 9 acres of matured vines, lovingly tended to by hand. These 8,000 vines include 9 different varieties of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Tannat, Malbec, Vermentino, and Viognier.
